And the skies open up...
There was an article about how the spectators at the National Day parade rehearsal braved the rain to see out the rest of the parade. I am glad they did because nothing defeats the spirit more than performing to a unappreciative audience, which had a face at the last parade rehearsal I went to.
For the last time, Singaporeans, please don't be an ass. These performers have put in incredulous amount of effort and time to perform. At what cost to the spectator? Zero. The least you could do, even if not everything was your cup of tea, is to sit in and see the event to its end. You are not the flag-waving type? OK. You are not the sing-along kind? OK, neither am I. But DON'T up yourself half-way into the parade and leave. Unless it's a matter of life-and-death e.g. your kid is gnawing on your and many others' nerves with his incessant cries. It's just downright rude to take the tickets and thus deprive others of a chance to catch the same show, got your fill of the performances you came to see and crash out half-way because the kids are now performing and "there's no kick".
Give some credit where it's due, can? We are just such a arse-rude nation sometimes, really.
